Course Description

The purpose of the course is to introduce students to the Chinese legal system and complexities of doing business and investing in China from the standpoint of multinational companies looking to access the China market or expand their Chinese presence. The course explores a wide variety of areas involved in doing business in China, including: judicial system, foreign investment regulation, contracting, antitrust, innovation policy, employment law, tax planning, China's interaction with WTO and international investment dispute settlement regime, business disputes resolution, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgements and international arbitration awards. The class involves lectures as well as practitioner guest speakers.
