Course Description

The focus of this course is the role of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the diagnosis and management of autism spectrum disorder. In addition, the course will focus on treatment approaches to the management of acute and chronic problems of autism spectrum disorder in the pediatric population. Approaches to behavioral, psychological and medical co-morbidities are discussed in the didactic setting and further explored in the clinical practicum. Students clinical practicum build on the previous semester and continue with the application of dialectic instruction to patient and family care in ASD.
