Course Description
Communication today often involves the use of multiple modes visuals, text, sound, and movement, and is shared in a variety of digital formats (e.g., videos, podcasts, websites, virtual worlds, and beyond). This course is designed for students interested in becoming skilled in digital multimodal literacies for communication and guides learners to create through technology-rich learning experiences for a variety of educational and leadership contexts. The course will introduce key concepts in multimodal design and digital literacies to foster learning, creativity, collaboration and equity while providing opportunities for gaining hands-on experience creating with digital tools. Students will gain experience designing multimodal projects using a variety of digital tools and explore the educational implications of scaffolding multimodality for culturally and linguistically diverse learners. The introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) for teaching, learning, and research purposes will also be explored in all modules of this course.
