Course Description
Recognized as a common vehicle of biased behavior, microaggression scholarship emerged in the 1970s with investigations in the field of education following in the 1990s. This course, Microaggression Theory and Racial Battle Fatigue, investigates microaggressions as expressions of implicit bias and aversive racism, as well as other forms of oppression. In addition, we will examine the multiple dimensions of the effects of microaggressions in the form of racial battle fatigue. The course provides students with the opportunity to explore microaggressions and racial battle fatigue in an interdisciplinary manner.
