Course Description
This course provides an overview and introduction to the sociology view of \"generations.\" There are many different views of what a generation is-including biological, demographic, historical and sociological. This course will focus on the sociological perspective on generations, owing largely to the early work of Karl Mannheim. We will explore questions such as: how generations are defined; how they reproduce themselves; the existence of intra-generational differences as well as differences between generations; and what impact these generational differences have on individuals, culture, social institutions.
