The course is geared towards developing an in-depth knowledge of how to determine the provenance or geographic origin of gems as well as how certain gems are the only tools available at a geologist's disposal to unravel Earth's history. The course will expose students to gem-related outstanding problems of interest to both the gem industry and academia.
