Course Description

CYBV 482 will provide students with a comprehensive overview of how automated bot operations are used by bad actors to conduct malicious amplification of topics, spread disinformation, attempt to manipulate elections through \"opinion machines\", and create false narratives and headlines around the globe. Students will design and experiment with social media bots within the CyberApolis environment for the purpose of understanding their operation and behavioral characteristics. Students will evaluate and attempt to improve on the effectiveness of bot detection, bot classification and explore the challenges of mapping propaganda campaigns.
