Course Description

This course explores the history of dress from ancient Mesopotamia to the present. Through a thematic approach, students will examine how dress and fashion have reflected and shaped social identities, cultural values, and power structures throughout history. The course also includes an overview of dress practices among Arizona's Indigenous cultures, highlighting traditions outside the Western fashion system.
