Course Description
This course will explore the elements of Musical Theatre Choreography from the choreographer's perspective. Exercises in music selection, character development, choreographic patterns, use of props and creative concepts will be emphasized. Additionally, we'll study what makes Musical Theatre choreography unique as a dance form as well as the role of the choreographer in the production process. Assignments will include self-choreographed pieces, teaching small combinations to others culminating in a final project incorporating videotaped movement to be presented. Students will engage in a collaborative environment to develop these choreographic works.
