Course Description
To better understand how medicine was/is affected by the Holocaust and how the Holocaust shapes the morals and ethics of contemporary medical health professionals. During the rotation, medical students will better understand the medical practices, the human subjects research and the public health care policies during the Third Reich. Using resources from the site www.medicineaftertheholocaust.org, medical students will be challenged to: \"personally confront the medical ethics of the Holocaust and apply that knowledge to contemporary practice and research, being mindful of the Hippocratic Oath with every step... healthcare personnel, like all human beings, have the capacity to believe they are doing good when they are actually doing harm.\"
