Course Description

This course is designed to provide rehabilitation counseling and teachers of students with visual impairments majors an introduction to transition for students, a more in-depth overview of rehabilitation services of adults with visual impairments, and the psychological and the social challenges for adjusting to vision loss. An emphasis will be placed on the on adaptations that enhance function of people with visual impairments. Issues around transition, career education, and employment will also be addressed. Course content will be presented in lecture format with input from professionals and consumers. This course is also relevant for orientation and mobility specialists, or others seeking information about the impact of visual impairment on adults and transitional issues.
