Course Description

This course addresses competencies in intrapartum care, routine care in the postpartum period and care of the well newborn. It builds on the foundational content and competencies introduced in previous semesters. This course focuses on the promotion of wellness, recognition of birth as a normal physiologic and developmental process. This course addresses health disparities, impact of discrimination and bias on health outcomes and seeks to identify strategies to improve health equity. Successful completion of this course is required for graduation.
