Course Description

This course addresses competencies in complex care of the birthing person and newborn. This includes management of obstetric and neonatal emergencies with stabilization and transfer of care. It builds on the foundational content and competencies introduced in previous semesters. This course focuses on identifying complications, interventions including emergency care, consultation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This course addresses health disparities, impact of discrimination and bias on health outcomes and seeks to identify strategies to improve health equity. Successful completion of this course is required for graduation.
