Course Description
In this course, students will explore foundational concepts in disaster risk assessment, management, and response. Through a multidisciplinary approach, they will engage with public health strategies and social science methodologies to analyze disaster risks and vulnerabilities. The course places a strong emphasis on equity and social justice, equipping students to include diverse and marginalized voices in disaster prevention, mitigation, and recovery strategies. By the end of the course, students will be able to critically evaluate the intersection of disasters and social inequities and propose informed, equitable responses to real-world disaster scenarios.
