Course Description
Students will gain an understanding of the diagnostic criteria, common treatment modalities, challenges, and strengths associated with various developmental disabilities. Students will learn about the history of special education in the United States and examine the experience of disability in today's culture through medical, social, and disability justice perspectives, considering the viewpoints of various stakeholders, such as professionals, parents/caregivers, and adults with disabilities. Students will practice using assessments and assistive technology, adapting music experiences in a success-oriented framework, and using music to target specific outcomes.
