Family & Community MedicineUndergraduateUA - UA General

Course ID

042437

Course Description

Sexually active, young and gender minority populations, especially on college campuses, face disproportionate rates of health, safety and legal risks compared to other adult communities. Compounding these problems within this population is lack of knowledge of health, sexual information regarding individual responsibilities, legal consequences, provider-access and resources for care and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. This introductory course will review primary health and legal issues as they pertain to sexuality, sexually transmitted diseases and sexual health. Students will learn best practices while learning self-improvement, self-advocacy and practical strategies to engage in inclusive and culturally responsible health and sexual behavior.
