In this course, students will build knowledge and develop an understanding of the disparities in food security across rural, peri-urban, and urban areas influenced by climate change risks, with a focus on how these disparities disproportionately affect men and women. Students will explore strategies to build equitable and resilient food systems that advance public health and promote sustainable solutions for diverse populations. Upon completing this course, students will demonstrate knowledge of how women and men living in rural, peri-urban, and urban areas across world regions disproportionately experience food insecurity driven by risks associated with climate change. Students will also be able to propose tailored solutions for creating more equitable and resilient food systems by applying public health interventions. This course fosters critical thinking and problem solving skills by leveraging public health interventions to address food security challenges, with an emphasis on gender equality and equitable access to resources, employment, advisory and other services, and markets.
