SERP793A - School Psychology Doctoral Internship
Course ID
042479
Course Description
Internship in school psychology is considered the capstone learning experience that allows the student to practice under supervision those skills learned during coursework and previous practica, as well as to acquire additional skills necessary for their future practice in the field of school psychology. The goal of internship is to allow students to continue to develop their school psychology-related skills as well as integrate psychological, educational, and practical components previously learned. The internship is entirely field-based, and students are required to complete a minimum of 1500 hours (minimum of 1800 for those completing APA-accredited internships), at an internship site that meets the criteria listed in the PhD handbook. Although this is the minimum number of hours required by the state, most students will complete more than these hours and are expected to fulfill their contracts with their internship site. Thus, the contract year must be completed in order to receive a final grade.
