Course Description
The urban horticulture workshop builds on the theoretical knowledge gained in specialized plant-related fields of study through project-based learning. Students will complete literature reviews, expand their knowledge of cultivated and native plant materials, and practice plant identification, observation, data collection, and documentation. Students enrolling for repeat credit will expand their leadership, and communication skills through projects requiring analysis, synthesis and interpretation through the creation and deployment of educational/interpretive content. Each project will develop educational resources customized for the needs of diverse project partners including public gardens, researchers, urban forestry and green infrastructure programs, nursery producers, community gardeners, and landscape management professionals.
