Course Description

Structural engineering is a sub-discipline of civil engineering based on applied mechanics, materials science and applied mathematics to understand and predict how structures support and resist self-weight and imposed loads. This includes the ability to determine the stability, strength, rigidity and earthquake-susceptibility of built structures. This course will emphasize selected topics associated with design and analysis of individual or integrated structure components. This course will draw from relevant industry sectors, structural engineering and material science topics. (1-3 credits, can be repeated for different topics)
