Course Description

This 400/500 level course provides students with an overview of the trends in mental health, mental health issues, mental wellness, and resilience as it relates to older adults. Looking through a culturally responsive lens, this course focuses on common mental health conditions, substance use, suicide, and promoting mental wellness and resilience among older adults. Students will have the opportunity to examine evidence-based strategies, therapies, and services while relating academic literature to real-world experiences. Graduate students will complete 500-level course projects throughout the term.
