Course Description

Survey of Mexican art from the 16th - 21st centuries. Course focuses on selected works of art (for example: painting, feather work, photography, murals and multi-media works). The works of art will be analyzed as 1. characteristic of artistic practices, subject matter/content, styles, materials, and display mechanisms; and 2. as embodiments of Mexican historical, social/racial, and environmental/geographical issues.
