Nutrl Sci & Wellness, Sch ofGraduateUA - UA General

Course ID

Course Description

This course is designed to apply a weight inclusive lens to counseling using frameworks that foster body autonomy and that takes into consideration the lived experience of the client. The concepts in this course ultimately prepare students to counsel clients in a way that moves them towards body tolerance, acceptance, and liberation. Students will learn to use weight-inclusive and trauma-informed care as a foundational counseling approach. Specific counseling techniques, such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) will be used to address body image and weight concerns. In addition, students will have the opportunity to collaborate with each other to share other weight-inclusive approaches found in the literature.
