Course Description
This entry-level course examines the interconnected environmental, social, technical, and economic challenges of supplying mineral resources for modern and future civilizations with the goal of zero harm. Students will study the sustainable and responsible production and use of mineral resources by exploring the entire lifecycle of mineral resources from rock to recycling bin. Along the journey, students will practice identifying the impacts of mining on people and the environment, and balancing community, industry and government perspectives and needs.
