Course Description

Welcome to the MS4 Geriatric Psychiatry rotation! We hope this month-long immersion into the field will give you a deeper appreciation for the unique nature of this Psychiatric subspecialty, and help you hone your career decisions. The goal of this rotation is to help students understand the many different clinical situations those in the field of Geriatric Psychiatry may be involved with. Activities in the rotation will help students meet these goals and objectives and will broaden their understanding of the complexities in the field. Please make sure to review this syllabus to ensure appreciation for the rotation format, syllabus content, and University of Arizona, College of Medicine (UACOM) expectations. In this 4-week elective clinical course, students will work with attending physicians, Geriatric Psychiatry fellows, and residents in a variety of settings. This may include Level 1 and Level 2 Geriatric Psychiatry Inpatient treatment units, Consultation and Liaison services, and outpatient Geriatric Psychiatry clinics, including specialized centers for the study of Alzheimer's disease and other dementing disorders.
