Course Description
This studio-based course immerses students in campus makerspaces, including the Health Sciences Design Makerspace, Engineering Design Center, and CATalyst Studios. These spaces serve as platforms for exploring design thinking, rapid prototyping, computer modeling, and both traditional and digital fabrication. This course provides an in-depth look at \"making\" practices, covering their history, context, and innovations. Students will explore makerspaces, gaining confidence as they engage with their technologies, processes, and cultures to develop sustainable making practices. Through hands-on practicals and design briefs, students will create meaningful contributions both individually and in interdisciplinary teams. These projects will be evaluated through group critiques and personal reflections. This course welcomes all undergraduate and graduate students in any discipline to become skilled making practitioners.
