This course will follow the perspective of \"system thinking and earth system prediction\" and introduces how climate influences and is influenced by biotic components, including vegetation, microbial communities, and human beings. The course is designed for students seeking to learn basic ecological and biological concepts and methods of parameterizing biological functions in the earth system models. The course is also designed for students who aim to master the basic concept of climate science and methods of integrating biological data for analyzing climate-land interaction.
