Course Description

Earth Grant is a leadership training and paid internship program for undergraduate students with diverse identities, perspectives, and professional goals, who share a passion for advancing environmental and community resilience. This two-credit course comprises the spring semester leadership training component of the program, and is separate from the internship. Prerequisites for this course are being accepted to the UArizona Earth Grant program and being matched with an Earth Grant internship. In this course, students identify personal leadership skill strengths and gaps, practice strategies for working in diverse teams, and explore techniques for developing solutions to complex, multi-stakeholder problems. Additionally, students explore historical and current patterns of land use, including impacts on mental health and cultural knowledge, and explore cultural and environmental connections in their own family histories.
