The class will focus on both academic literature and professional practice, as both are important in an applied program in which the vast majority of students are going into and working in professional practice, and only a small proportion are planning on going into the faculty. Our class discussions will frame the organizational issues we address as if we are talking about a play or performance, in terms of the \"players\" (actors) in organizations, especially the professionals, the structures that constitute the framing \"sets\" of organizational life, and the \"scripts\" that scholars and others use to describe what is going on in organizations.
