BSM441 - Diagnostic Technologies and Their Role in Healthcare
Course Description
This course will provide a broad overview of the diagnostic process, technologies, and their applications in healthcare and medicine. Students will gain an understanding of how common imaging modalities and laboratory/point-of-care testing methods are used in clinical practice for diagnosis and guiding treatment decisions with examples across a spectrum of organ and body systems. Course topics also include evaluation methods, factors contributing to diagnostic error, role of artificial intelligence in image reconstruction and image interpretation, role of omics and artificial intelligence in decision-making, and emerging diagnostic technologies and devices, such as wearables and remote monitoring.
