Course Description

This course will serve as the final exposure to pre-hospital EMS in the role of paramedic student. Students will be expected to act as a supervised team-lead and crew member on a 911 response ALS fire engine or paramedic truck for a minimum of 180 hours over the time of the course and in accordance with the paramedic training curriculum. They will also be expected to engage with crews at the fire station to continue to grow as member of a team. Students will have the opportunity to work on skills such as patient assessment, IV's, intubations, EKG interpretation etc., all while responding to real 911 calls under the supervision of a qualified preceptor. By the end of this course, it is expected that the student will be providing care equivalent to an entry-level, nationally certified paramedic.

Course Requisites
