Course Description
This course covers the current theory and research on the mechanisms, etiology, prognosis, maintenance factors of the major psychological disorders. The course also covers the current theory and research on main psychological treatments for these disorders, the interventions' theoretical underpinnings, associated mechanisms of change, and the literature of their efficacy. The primary emphasis will be on the major psychological disorders or problem areas most commonly encountered in clinical practice and will focus largely on an adult population. The course will also include discussions about the social systems within which mental illness is understood, diagnosed, and treated in our society and profession.
