Course Description
The purpose of this course is threefold. First and foremost, this class aims to help scholar-practitioner doctoral students to reflect on how quantitative paradigms and research methods may contribute to advancing equity in schools and districts. Second, it also intends to help scholar-practitioner doctoral students to develop capacities to read, interpret, and evaluate quantitative research findings and write a literature review of quantitative research. This course further aims to help graduate students to cultivate practical skills and confidence to communicate with stakeholders, lead equity-focused discussions, and further envision their doctoral dissertation research using statistical inference and data visualization. In addition to weekly assignments, this course entails the development of a mini project, using either public-use or locally available quantitative datasets to analyze a set of practical problems in educational leadership or related areas.
