Course Description

This course provides the opportunity for students potentially interested in a career in minerals gain real-world experience by working collaboratively on an unstructured problem. Using quality, government sponsored data over regional terrains with a proven mineral endowment and a high likelihood of potential resources, students work in small interdisciplinary teams to produce a culminating \"exploration\" project report. The report assesses the hypothesis or problem the team decided to solve and how the outcomes address real-world technical, economic, social, and environmental issues. Students integrate diverse perspectives in the key focus areas of innovation, data integration, impact and exploration significance, and team collaboration. All team reports will automatically be entered into the Frank Arnott - Next Generation Explorers Award (NGEA) international competition.
