Course Description
This is a seminar course that will explore emerging issues in workers' rights law from legal and theoretical perspectives. Drawing from texts, data, and theoretical frameworks from law, history, social science and social and legal theory, the course will examine the intersection of migration and labor with a focus on the United States. Issues will include tensions between individual and collective workers' rights laws and remedies, the impact of formalized status on workers' rights, and the interaction among state and federal workers' rights laws and agencies. After delving into historical and theoretical framings of workers' rights, the course will focus on specific topics and law and policy debates.
