Course Description

Many people are unaware that tribes are recognized as legitimate governments within the political structure of the United States, and they exercise sovereign authority over their lands and persons located on those lands. Anyone who is working with or for a tribe in the United States or who plans to work with or for a tribal must understand the contours of tribal authority as well as the powers exercised by the federal and state governments within a tribe's territory (it's \"Indian country\"). This course explores the powers of tribal, state, and the federal government in Indian country.
