Course Description
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the knowledge, tools and competencies to investigate accredited supervised practice pathways in dietetics. Course topics include types of programs, the process of earning the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential, common program eligibility and application requirements, the DICAS common application process, best practices to communicate about personal strengths and assets and what to expect if accepted into a program and alternative options if not accepted into a program. Upon completing this course students will possess a detailed workbook which includes program comparison tables, first drafts of personal statement responses, sample communication templates for dietetics program directors, faculty and other key professionals, and action plans for meeting eligibility and application requirements in advance of the application cycle. Students who complete this course will have a comprehensive understanding of what is expected during the application process for supervised practice programs and a plan to be a competitive applicant.
