Course Description

Clinical chemistry describes the qualitative and quantitative analysis of critical chemical species in bodily fluids and tissues. This interdisciplinary field includes knowledge from medicine, biology, chemistry, and biochemistry, as well as many other fields. This course covers the principles behind the essential measurements and clinical interpretation used for analysis of human samples in healthcare settings. Emphasis is given to the underlying fundamentals of chemical measurement strategies and approaches, from sampling through data validation and interpretation. The course will rely upon a combination of lectures, case studies and other in-class activities to provide fundamental knowledge of clinical measurements.
