ECE544 - Information Theory with Quantum Light
Course ID
043611
Course Description
Quantum information (QI) with quantum states of light (aka QI with continuous variables or photonic QI) is the field that investigates the manipulation, processing and detection of non-classical, information-bearing, light. This way, we can process information encoded in photons much more efficiently compared to conventional (classical) methods, with applications in optical communications, security, sensing and computation.
Electromagnetic radiation is used to transmit information, to detect objects or even sense their different properties. Therefore, QI with quantum states of light has become the mainstream focus of the research community resulting to tangible technological products with provable unprecedented performance, while it remains an exciting and rich area of things to be discovered.
