Course ID
043634
Course Description
A PhD dissertation proposal serves to plan research so it has a high chance of succeeding, to demonstrate that you have good knowledge of your field, and to practice clear, concise argumentation; as such, it is both a major undertaking and quite different from any writing you may have done before. This course will provide you with the advice and structure that you need to get started on your proposal, as well as giving you tools for effective and convincing writing about your research. Over the course of the semester, you will learn strategies for promoting creative work, structuring writing, effective literature review, experimental design, and how to approach statistics, with the goal of ending the semester with a full first draft of your proposal.
