ART103 - First Year Experience: Spatial Dynamics
Course Description
This foundational sculpture and mixed-media course introduces students to the conception and execution of three-dimensional art (height, width, and depth). This course will challenge the students to think beyond the flat surface, exploring the endless possibilities of form, texture, and space.
Through hands-on projects, students will experiment with both traditional and contemporary sculptural techniques, from subtractive methods like carving to additive processes such as assemblage. They will develop a keen understanding of how to manipulate materials to express their ideas in compelling, physical forms. The course emphasizes creative problem-solving and the development of a personal artistic voice.
