Course Description
Public organizations face complex challenges in today's rapidly changing world that require innovative and systemic approaches to leadership. We will explore how to think beyond individual problems and understand the interconnectedness of systems to find points of leverage to enact productive and sustainable change. This course will equip you with skills and knowledge from Systems Thinking and Systems Leadership, enabling you to navigate multifaceted problems and drive positive changes in the public sector, including the creation of more equitable, sustainable, and resilient organizations and communities. We will explore and practice the 14 Habits of a Systems Thinker, learn the tools of systems thinking that support critical thinking and communication about complex topics, and how to facilitate diverse groups of stakeholders using Systems Thinking concepts. Through case studies, simulations, and group projects, you will learn to apply systems thinking principles to real-world challenges in areas such as human resources, strategic planning, and community engagement.
