Course Description
This Russian (L2) for professional purposes course targets advanced and superior level proficiency in Russian in a variety of professional situations related to professional translation and interpretation, social and humanitarian work, international law and human rights advocacy, non-profit organization governance. Students will practice using Russian language skills in formal and informal professional contexts, stating opinions on various social and political issues, narrating current or past events, presenting a well-structured argument, reading and interpreting legal documents, and designing and conducting professional interviews. In addition to speaking and reading assignments, the class will focus on a number of advanced concepts of Russian grammar and syntax, and practice using these structures in writing and speaking activities that resemble real-life professional situations.
