Course Description

This is the required capstone course for students in the Health and Human Values minor. Individually or in a group students will develop a unique semester-long project that makes use of their HHV coursework and internship experience to produce an innovative and practical intervention in health care on a small scale.

Through an integrated approach, students will be empowered to examine health not just from a clinical or biological standpoint but within the larger context of lived experiences, societal structures, historical narratives, and global perspectives. This holistic perspective helps students cultivate interventions that are not only scientifically grounded but also socially conscious and attuned to the complexities of the real world.

The emphasis in this class is on active participation, peer-to-peer learning, and the sharing of insights from varied academic backgrounds. With collaborative projects, iterative feedback processes, and critical self-reflection, students are empowered to challenge traditional health paradigms and design solutions that are comprehensive, empathetic, and innovative.
