Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive, strengths-based approach to understanding, diagnosing, and treating substance use disorders. Students will develop proficiency in applying diagnostic criteria, conducting biopsychosocial assessments, and creating comprehensive treatment plans using the ASAM criteria and levels of care. Special emphasis is placed on co-occurring disorders, evidence-based interventions, cultural competence, and ethical practice. Through case studies and practical applications, students will gain the skills necessary to work effectively with individuals and families affected by addiction across various treatment settings.
