Course ID
043838
Course Description
Students engage and collaborate on environmental or climate-related projects with community-based organizations in rural Arizona communities (e.g., Bisbee, Douglas, and Superior) to understand how the environment influences health. Field projects will include community conversations to learn about local history, local perspectives on health and wellbeing, and hands on community service (e.g., tree planting, community education on extreme heat). Through classwork and hands-on experiences, students will learn about climate and environmental factors influencing public health in rural communities, hear from community members and partners on concerns around climate change, and develop skills in analyzing climate and environmental data.
