Course Description
This course provides comprehensive training in evidence-based approaches to couples therapy, preparing students to work effectively with diverse relationship dynamics and presenting concerns. Students will develop clinical skills across multiple domains of couple functioning, including attachment and intimacy enhancement, communication and conflict resolution, behavioral change strategies, and sexual health and intimacy. Students will learn to assess couple dynamics, formulate treatment plans, and implement interventions that address the full spectrum of relationship issues. Sexual health and intimacy represent one important component of comprehensive couples work, and students will gain foundational knowledge in providing sex therapy within the broader context of relationship treatment. Additional focus areas include improving communication patterns, managing conflict constructively, strengthening emotional connection, addressing infidelity and trust issues, and supporting couples through major life transitions.
