Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive examination of physical activity and disease prevention through the dual lenses of public health and exercise science. Students will explore the population-level impacts of physical activity on public health outcomes, for example, reduced risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, alongside the physiological and performance-based aspects of physical activity at the individual level, such as cardiovascular adaptations or hormone regulation. Special attention will be given to the impact of physical activity across various age groups, exploring how evidence-based strategies contribute to disease prevention and enhance quality of life. Additionally, the course will critically evaluate common myths and misconceptions surrounding physical activity.
