Course Description

This class offers an interdisciplinary introduction to the thriving field of comparative constitutional law. We will cover the basics of how constitutions are created, revised, interpreted, and enforced. Topics will include design of government institutions, federalism, judicial review, constitutional amendment rules, and constitutional rights. We will cover a range of foreign jurisdictions throughout the West, Asia, and the Global South, such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Africa, Colombia, India, Ecuador, Hungary, and Turkey.
