Course Description
Develop addiction medicine knowledge, trauma- and resilience-informed therapeutic micro skills, and interprofessional collaboration skills to coordinate care and promote health and healing for patients with substance use disorder. Demonstrate principles and practices of trauma- and resilience-informed care. Review and be able to explain the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria for SUD and appropriate levels of care. Identify evidence-based practices in integrated behavioral health care, and discuss the purpose, scope, risks and benefits of medical, psychiatric, psychological, and social service interventions for patients with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Identify ethical, legal, and social justice issues along with resources for the treatment of patients with SUD. Observe and demonstrate the ability to collaborate with interprofessional colleagues and coordinate care across multiple medical/health disciplines in multiple healthcare settings.
